Cross Country concludes season at NCAA New England Regional Meet in Maine

Brunswick, ME- The MCLA Cross Country program wrapped up their fall schedule this afternoon as they ran in the NCAA New England Regional meet hosted by Bowdoin.  The Trailblazers competed as individuals as three women ran in the 6k race while four men competed in the 8k event.

MIT took home the regional title on the women's side while Amherst College was declared the men's regional champion. 

Women's Race-

The women's champion was Kaitlyn Mooney from the Coast Guard Academy as she covered the course in 20:43 to earn the title.  She helped her team to an eighth place finish.  Julie Gambill was the top Trailblazer finisher.  The 6k race was the longest of the season for MCLA and Gambill covered the track in 27:18.  Jenna Berg was the next Trailblazer across the line finishing in a time of 33:09.  Breanna Castor was the final MCLA competitor and she finished the race with a time of 36:53.

Men's Race- 

The overall men's champion was Sam Brunnette of Plymouth State.  He checked in with a time of 24:55 to nose out James Jones of Bates by less than one second to earn the championship.  Christopher Gamble was the first Trailblazer across the line with a time of 28:48 and just four seconds behind him was teammate Corey Powers at 28:52.  

Owen Fitzgerald ran the course in 35:59 while Theodore Jones finished with a time of 37:34.
