Four Trailblazers named to NAC All Academic Team after Fall Semester

Waterville, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is delighted to announce the Fall 2020 All-Academic Team. With 768 members, this is the largest All-Academic Team in conference history.  MCLA competes in the NAC in Men's Lacrosse and Men's and Women's Tennis.

In order to be eligible for All-Academic honors, student athletes must be participating members of their respective team and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Member institutions are responsible for identifying eligible student athletes.

All-Academic Team honors are bestowed twice a year, at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters. Traditionally, the fall semester All-Academic Team includes only student athletes who compete in sports with a fall conference championship, and the spring team includes only those who compete in sports with winter or spring conference championships. For the 2020-21 academic year, however, student athletes on all NAC-sponsored sport rosters are eligible for both fall and spring recognition due to unconventional NCAA seasons.

MCLA had a pair of programs represented on the All Academic roster.  Men's Lacrosse led the way with three Trailblazers named to the team respectively.  Juniors Micah Tassone and Kyle Gallup earned the honors as did sophomore Brady Larkin.  In Men's Tennis, first year Trailblazer Pablo Calderon was named to the team.

Playing seasons are usually limited to 18 or 19 weeks in the fall, winter, or spring. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teams are able to practice or compete on 114 days throughout the course of the entire academic year, regardless of the traditional sport season or when those days occur. Most teams in the conference are utilizing days across both fall and spring semesters.

The Fall 2020 NAC All-Academic Team recognizes student athletes who practiced or competed in any of the 18 conference-sponsored sports during the fall semester. NAC sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track & field, and women's volleyball.

The NAC has 12 member institutions including SUNY Canton, Cazenovia College, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Delhi, UMaine-Farmington, Husson University, Northern Vermont University-Johnson, Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, Maine Maritime Academy, SUNY Poly, UMaine-Presque Isle, and Thomas College. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) competes as an associate member in men's lacrosse and men's and women's tennis.
