Rachiele named MASCAC Player of the Year; Adams selected to First-Team

MASCAC 2023 Baseball All-Conference Release

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—MCLA's senior outfielder Austin Rachiele (Pittsfield, MA) has been named as the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Year. Graduate Randy Adams (Fullerton, CA) has also been selected to the All-Conference First Team.

Bridgewater State's Matt Josselyn was selected as the Pitcher of the Year while Framingham State's James Gilleran took home Rookie of the Year honors. Rams skipper Sean Callahan was voted Coach of the Year.

Rachiele had a historic season for the Trailblazers leading the MASCAC with a .453 batting average, 14 home runs (one shy of the program record), 63 hits (tied program record), 4 triples, 127 total bases (new program record) as well as a .550 on base percentage and a .914 slugging percentage. The centerfielder also scored 53 runs (new program record, 2nd MASCAC), finished with 40 RBI (6th MASCAC), drew 28 walks (3rd MASCAC) and stole 17 bases.

Adams, who was a member of the All-Conference Second Team a year ago, batted .367 (6th MASCAC) with 5 home runs and 49 RBI (3rd MASCAC, new program record), leading the conference with 16 doubles (tied program record) to go along with a .460 on base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage.

Joining Rachiele and Adams on the First Team were Westfield State's Nick Marshall, Dan Burnett, and Ryan Lapierre, Bridgewater State's Scott Emerson, Jay Wladkowski, and Matt Josselyn, Fitchburg State's Vincent Eramo and Lowell Pare, Framingham State's Ryan Boyle and Caleb Hendrix, and Salem State's Brahiam Ortega.

Earning a spot on the Second Team are Framingham State's Steven Burbank, Anthony Panza and Robert Johnston, Mass Maritime's AJ Pietrafesa, Brett Velzis and John Tropea, Bridgewater State's Kevin Lindsay, Mathew Pigeon and Matthew Seavey, Worcester State's Cole Glassburn and Alex Sorenti-Burns as well as Fitchburg State's Jacob Hurrell.
