Golf, Gover, Earn Second at NEC Invitational

SUTTON, New Hampshire—For the second straight event, the MCLA Golf team claimed a second place finish this afternoon at the New England College Invitational held at the Country Club of New Hampshire. Matt Gover, coming off his first career win as a Trailblazer last weekend at the Norwich Invitational, finished second in the individual competition as well.

The host Pilgrims took the team title with a combined score of 307. The Trailblazers finished just five strokes off the pace with a score of 312 to take second. Keene State took third with a score of 336 and Wentworth finished fourth with a 341.

New England College sophomore Graham Hassan who finished with a two under par 70, nipped Gover (72) by two strokes to claim the individual title. In turn, Gover drained a 40-foot put on the 18th hole to edge out NEC's Timothy Carlson (73) for second place.

MCLA's Alex Ferris finished tied for 4th with a career best 77 while teammates Paul Roeder (77) and Cody White (83) played well helping the Trailblazers to their 2nd place finish.

The Trailblazers will next host the MCLA Invitational on Tuesday at Waubeeka Country Club in Williamstown.
