Golf, Gover Sweep MCLA Invitational Titles

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—The MCLA Golf team cruised to the 2023 MCLA Invitational title this afternoon at the Waubeeka Country Club. Freshman Matt Gover also claimed his second title of the season firing a one-over 72.

After two consecutive second place finishes, the Trailblazers won today's competition with a combined score of 313, twenty-one strokes clear of second place VTSU Castleton's 334. Worcester State finished third with a 336 and Eastern Nazarene fourth with a 426. The title is the first in the career of head coach Jeremiah Ketts.

Gover's round featured a bogey-free back nine with a birdie on his last hole to secure his second title of the year. Castleton's Brady Hawthorn finished second with a 75 while MCLA's Alex Ferris and Paul Roeder finished tied for third place with rounds of 79. Cody White's 83 earned him a sixth-place finish. Landry Laird finished tied for 11th.

MCLA has a busy weekend ahead with a one-day event at Norwich University's Tony Mariano Invitational on Friday and the two-day Williams Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
