Gover Sweeps Weekly MASCAC Golf Awards

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— With two individual titles to his credit last week it was little surprise that Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) freshman Matt Gover (Atkinson, NH / Virtual Learning Academy) has been named as both the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Golf Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Less than two weeks removed from winning his first career individual event at the Norwich Invitational, Gover shot a one-over par 72 to win his second title of the season while also leading the Trailblazers to the team title at the MCLA Invitational the Waubeeka Country Club last Tuesday.

Gover then claimed his third piece of hardware of the year winning on the second hole of a sudden death playoff after shooting an even par 71 at the Tony Mariano Invitational hosted by Norwich University at the Montague Golf Club on Friday. Gover capped off his week shooting a two-round total of 156 (+14) tying for 57th place over the weekend at the Williams Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club.

Gover and the Trailblazers are back in action tomorrow at the Brett Williamson Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at the Tekoa Country Club.
