Gover Dominates Field with Career-Best Performance to Win Castleton Invitational

RUTLAND, Vermont—After catapulting out to an eight stroke first round lead yesterday thanks to a career best 67 (-3), Trailblazer Matt Gover cruised to his fifth individual title of the season this afternoon with a two-round total of 141 (+1) at the Rutland Country Club to win the 2023 Castleton Invitational . The MCLA Golf team also had a strong showing finishing 5th in the team competition.
Norwich University's Harison Giambattista finished second with a two-round total of 148 (+8). He also posted the day's low round with a 73 and led the Cadets to the team title with a combined score of 634. MCLA finished with a total score of 684.
Cody White with a 168 (+28) finished tied for 15th place while fellow Trailblazer Alex Ferris ended the event tied for 24th with a 177 (+37).
MCLA will spend the week preparing for next weekend's season ending MASCAC Championship hosted by Salem State University at the Beverly Golf & Tennis Club.
