Men's Lax tripped up at home by CMSV 11-7

North Adams, MA-- Mount Saint Vincent's Patrick Nagy scored three goals and added a pair of assists to lead the visiting Dolphins to a 11-7 win over the MCLA Trailblazers today at Shewcraft Field.  The Dolphins earned their first win of the season as they're now 1-4 overall.  MCLA starts their season at 0-5.  

The Trailblazers started fast on their home turf in this one.  Johnny Hebert scored just two minutes into the game and when Tom Irwin tallied later in the quarter MCLA led 2-0.  CMSV would get a goal back at the end of the quarter and trail just 2-1 after the opening fifteen minutes.  The hosts would add another marker when Matt Ortiz pocketed a short handed goal with eight minutes left til halftime giving MCLA a 3-1 lead.  From there the Dolphins took over.

They would close the half outscoring MCLA 4-0 over the final eight minutes.  Nagy started the scoring in the run and when Ryan Jean-Pharuns tallied with 3:46 left before halftime, CMSV led 5-3.  The score would remain that way at the break.

The two teams traded goals in the third quarter as Irwin connected on both goals for MCLA while Pharuns and Jacob Cochran notched goals for the visitors setting up the fourth quarter.

Mount Saint Vincent added some breathing room by scoring the first two goals of the period to increase the lead to 9-5.  MCLA would get within three on Nathan Haley's goal, however CMSV scored two straight goals to put the game away.

Cochran ended with two goals and an assist for the victors while Joseph Santana added two goals of his own.  Sawyer Davis earned the win in goal stopping 19 shots on the afternoon for his first win of the season.  

Irwin netted the hat trick for MCLA to pace the offense.  He added an assist for a four point afternoon.  Matt Ortiz scooped up 10 groundballs on the afternoon while keeper Brady Larkin collected 11 saves.

The game featured 100 shots between the two teams.

MCLA is back in action on Wednesday when they host SUNY Poly.
