Haley, Hankel have productive nights but Men's Lacrosse falls 15-9 to Poly

North Adams, MA-- A trio of SUNY Poly Wildcats netted hat tricks in leading the men's lacrosse team past the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The Wildcats improve to 3-4 overall and sit atop the NAC at 3-0.  The Trailblazers fall to 0-6 on the season which includes an 0-2 mark in the conference.

After a quiet opening eight minutes, Poly went to work.  The Wildcats would score four straight goals over the next five minutes to seize a 4-0 advantage.  MCLA would answer in the final seconds of the quarter when Johnny Hebert scored off a nice pivot to slice the deficit to 4-1 after one quarter of play.

The team would trade goals to start the second quarter and then when MCLA's Nathan Haley scored back to back markers, the Poly lead was just 6-4.  The Wildcats would close the half with momentum however as they would score the final two goals to take an 8-4 lead at halftime.

Poly would carry the run into the third quarter as they scored the first four goals to increase the margin to 12-4.  MCLA's John Hankel scored a pair of goals later in the quarter, but after three MCLA still trailed 14-6.

In the fourth, Poly scored their final goal to make it 15-6 before MCLA closed the game with three straight goals to provide the final margin.

Poly's Shane Wyman, Edward Rosaschi, and Payton Thomas each ended with hat tricks.  Mathew Johnson earned the win in goal as he played the entire first half for the Wildcats.

MCLA was paced by Haley's four goals and an assist.  His five points were a season best effort.  Hankel ended with three goals and an assist.  MCLA's Boden Dock debuted in goal and collected 20 saves for the Trailblazers.

Poly outshot MCLA 67-16 in the contest.

MCLA is back in action on Friday night when they host SUNY Delhi at 5pm.
