Haley, Dock lift Men's Lacrosse to 16-10 win over Wells

Aurora, NY-- MCLA's Nathan Haley scored five goals and added an assist while Boden Dock collected 12 saves to lift the Trailblazer Men's Lacrosse team to a 16-10 win over Wells College in non league action.  MCLA is now 1-7 on the season while Wells falls to 3-6 overall.

The two teams were tied up at 2-2 after one quarter of action.  MCLA took control as they outscored Wells 5-3 in the second period.  The Express actually took the lead at 3-2 before MCLA scored a pair of goals to grab a 4-3 advantage.  The teams would trade goals and then when Wells' Jacob Stine converted, the game was tied at 5-5.

The Trailblazers would close the half with goals from Johnny Hebert and Haley in the final two minutes to take a 7-5 lead into halftime.

MCLA would carry that momentum into the third quarter as they scored the first four goals out of halftime.  Haley had bookend goals in the spurt while Matthew Wallaced added two markers to give the Trailblazers an 11-5 lead.  After trading goals to close the third period, MCLA led 12-6 with just one quarter remaining.

Wells closed within 12-7 and later at 13-8, but MCLA would pull away with three straight goals to increase the lead to 16-8.  They would surrender a pair of goals over the final four minutes but were never seriously threatened as they grabbed the win.

Haley was outstanding as he took 23 shots in total for his six point afternoon.   Hebert ended with two goals and three assists for a five point afternoon of his own.  Wallace, Tom Irwin, and John Hankel each tallied two goals in the victory.

Boden Dock was solid in goal once again stopping 12 shots to earn his first win as a Trailblazer.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they host SUNY Canton in NAC action.
