Irwin, Dock lead Men's Lacrosse past Cobleskill 18-10

North Adams, MA-- MCLA's Tom Irwin collected five goals and added three assists while teammate Boden Dock collected 16 saves in leading the Men's Lacrosse team to a convincing 18-10 win over Cobleskill this afternoon from Shewcraft Field.  MCLA is now 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  Cobleskill drops to 3-5 on the season and is now 1-4 in league play.

MCLA was down 1-0 early on but then responded with five straight goals.  Irwin collected two goals in the spurt while Johnny Hebert, Matthew Wallace, and Nate Allen converted to make it 5-1 Trailblazers.  Cobleskill added another tally but the hosts would end the period with three straight goals and take an 8-3 lead after one quarter.  John Hankel got hot and ratlled off three straight goals in the run.

MCLA would grow the lead to 12-4 late in the second quarter, but Cobleskill would add two goals before halftime to trim the lead to 12-6 at the half.

The offense slowed in the third quarter until MCLA finally broke through.  Wallace converted with 6:58 left in the third and then Irwin found the net off a Nathan Haley feed to increase the lead to 14-6 after three quarters.

Cobleskill would not get any closer than seven goals throughout the fourth quarter as MCLA matched any of the Fighting Tiger runs.

Irwin was outstanding and set career highs with his 8 point afternoon.  He attempted 11 shots and added 7 groundballs.  Haley chipped in with four goals and 4 ground balls in the win.  Hankel ended with three goals and two assists while Wallace and Hebert scored twice.

Boden Dock was outstanding in goal for MCLA.  The first year keeper stopped 16 shots to record his first win in a Trailblazers uniform.  

Cobleskill was paced by Sean D'Amaro's team best four goals.

MCLA outshot the Tigers 52-35 in the contest.

The Trailblazers will look to continue the momentum on Saturday when they head to Husson.
