Men's Soccer hosts first game in nearly two years, fall to West Conn 3-0

North Adams, MA—Matthew Restrepo collected a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State Men's Soccer team past MCLA 3-0 this afternoon in the opening round of the annual fall classic.  The Colonials improve to 2-0 on the season while the Trailblazers slip to 0-2.

The opening half was played with lots of energy on both sides, but ultimately West Conn controlled possession.  They would breakthrough in the 15th minute as Restrepo collected a nice cross from Kent Eannarino and his one touch got past MCLA's Sam Edge for the early 1-0 lead.  The game would remain 1-0 until halftime even though the visitors controlled much of the play.

In the second half, they would quickly extend the lead.  Once again, Restrepo had a hand in the scoring.  This time, he fed Eannarino who bested Edge to increase the lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute.  Ten minutes later, Restrepo would find the net again off an assist from Kadin Talho giving the visitors an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

West Conn outshot MCLA 26-2 in the contest which included a 12-1 margin on net.  Daniel Szabo played 80 minutes and stopped the only shot he saw to collect his second win.

Edge took the loss making 9 saves on the day.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Sunday when they take on Eastern Nazarene on day two.  The Colonials battle Salem State tomorrow.
