Men's Soccer tripped up at home by Maritime 2-1

North Adams, MA-- The visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy men's soccer team scored twice in the second half to stun the MCLA Trailblazers 2-1 this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The Buccaneers improve to 2-7 overall, but more importantly are 2-1 in the MASCAC.  MCLA dips to 2-5-1 overall and is 2-1 in the conference.

MCLA started out roaring as they quickly pressured the Bucs.  In the 5th minute of play, Junior Florent would send a cross into the box.  Trailblazer first year Cola Bean would head it home for his fourth goal of the season to give the hosts an early 1-0 advantage.

Both teams had a few opportunities in the opening half, but neither could convert.  It would remain 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Maritime took over.  They finally broke through the MCLA defense in the 77th minute.  Buccaneer Shane MacNeil would fire a shot that MCLA's Sam Edge made a sprawling save on.  However the rebound went directly to McNeill Somers who pounded it home to tie things up at 1-1.  The goal was Somers' second of the season.

The game appeared destined for overtime, but MMA had different plans.  In the 85th minute, CJ Vincent would send a beautiful cross through the MCLA back line and found the foot of Shane MacNeil.  He calmly knocked it home to put the visitors on top at 2-1.

Over the final four minutes, MCLA couldn't muster up the equalizer and MMA prevailed.

MMA's John Murphy earned the win stopping four shots for the visitors.  The Bucs outshot MCLA 21-10, which included a 12-3 mark in the second half.

Edge took the loss in goal for MCLA collecting four saves.
