Softball voted sixth in MASCAC Preseason Poll

North Adams, MA- After announcing on Friday the intentions of having a spring season, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) has released the 2021 Softball preseason poll.  The Framingham State University Rams were the consensus pick to win the league garnering 47 points in the poll.  MCLA was selected to finish sixth.

The Rams narrowly held off Bridgewater State (44 points) for the top spot as they received five first place votes.  The Bears earned the other three first place votes in the poll as they easily outdistanced third choice Worcester State (35 points).  Westfield State (31 points) came in fourth followed by Fitchburg State (26 points) in fifth.

The Trailblazers, under head coach Adriane Baird, enter the season as the sixth choice with 17 points.  MCLA is just ahead of Salem State (16 points) while Mass. Maritime rounds out the poll with 8 points.

MCLA never got started last season as Baird was set to make her debut as the pandemic cancelled their season.  The Trailblazers return a pair of veteran pitchers in Samantha Feinstein and Morgan Watson along with senior Alanza Quinones to solidify the lineup.

MCLA is set to begin their season on March 26th against Fitchburg State.
