Softball drops pair of tilts at Union

Schenectady, NY- The MCLA Softball team traveled to Union this afternoon for a non league twinbill.  Union took the opening game 12-4 before completing the sweep with a 4-2 win in the nightcap.  Union is now 16-8 overall while the Trailblazers dip to 3-24.

Game One: Union 12, MCLA 4

MCLA scored a pair of runs in the first inning as Lora Woyton doubled home Maddie Teta to get the scoring started.  When Lidia Flores drove in Wotyon with a single, MCLA led 2-0.  Union immediately answered as they scored five times in the bottom of the first to take their first lead at 5-2.

Union extended the margin with two more runs in the second inning and led 7-2 before MCLA climbed a bit closer on Ezmeralda Albright's squeeze bunt.  Her hit brought MCLA to within 7-3 after three innings.

Union would put the game away with a two run fourth inning and a solo run in the fifth to lead 10-3.  The Traiblazers got their final run when Teta doubled home Sarah McMahon in the sixth inning.

Avianna Ibrahim absorbed the loss on the mound for MCLA.  Woyton had 3 hits to pace the offense in the opener.

Game Two: Union 4, MCLA 2

Similar to the opener, MCLA led early.  Justina Pardi doubled home Teta in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.  Woyton continued her solid afternoon with a sac fly in the second inning to make it 2-0 in favor of MCLA.

Union scored the tying runs in the third inning off MCLA's Woyton to make it 2-2.  The hosts would eventually take the lead on a two run single in the fifth inning off of Sarah Williams to make it 4-2.  

MCLA went down in order in the sixth and seventh innings against Union's Riley Callahan.  

Teta led the offense with two hits.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they head to Mass. Maritime.
