HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Game #1
    • Coe College led this game from start to finish, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning and two more in the third inning. The pattern then repeated itself when the Kohawks scored another pair in the fourth inning and followed it up with three more in the fifth inning.
    • MCLA's lone run came in the second inning when Hailey Peabody brought home Maggie Closinski with an RBI double after Closinski reached on a hit-by-pitch.
    • Coe's Natalie Hitt went the distance to record her first win of the season, improving to 1-0. Sarah Williams was saddled with the loss, falling to 1-3.
  • Game #2
    • MCLA was first on the scoreboard in game number two, scoring a run in the top of the first when Madyson Torres hit an RBI double to center field to score Peabody with what would turn out to be the Trailblazers' lone run.
    • St. Joseph's-Brooklyn responded to the run in the top of the first by scoring a pair of their own in the bottom of the frame. The score would remain 2-1 until the Bears took advantage of three hits and an error in the bottom of the fifth to force across three more runs.
    • Makenna Burr recorded her first collegiate career complete game, scattering six Trailblazer hits while only allowing one run to improve her record to 1-1. Hailey Peabody made her second appearance of the season in the circle but was handed a loss to drop to 0-1.
