Women's Basketball falls to Elms 71-37

Chicopee, MA- The Elms College women's basketball team placed three players in double figures as they rolled past the MCLA Trailblazers 71-37 tonight in non-league action for both teams.  MCLA dips to 0-2 on the season while Elms improves to 2-0.

Elms jumped out to a 19-12 lead after one quarter of play and eventually would hold a 40-25 edge at halftime.  The host would blow the game open using a 19-7 third quarter to pull away.  Elms held MCLA to just 12 points over the final two periods.

Rahmia Johnston led all scorers with 18 points.  She would pull down 7 rebounds on the night.  Valeska Kelly added a double double of 15 points and 11 rebounds while McKenzie Huria chipped in with 13 points.

Elms shot 42% from the floor.  They caused 15 Trailblazer turnovers.

MCLA was led by Hannah Mazzeo.  The senior posted her first double double of the season as she tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds.  

The Trailblazers could not overcome a 24% shooting performance.

MCLA will stay closer to home next as they battle Williams on Sunday afternoon.
