Women's Basketball can't overcome slow start at Williams

Williamstown, MA- The Williams College women's basketball team started the game on a 27-1 run and they cruised past the MCLA Trailblazers 89-42 in non league action.  MCLA (0-3) started the game 0-17 from the floor.

Williams improved to 1-1 on the season.

The Ephs took command early in this one blitzing the Trailblazers on both sides of the court.  Williams would hold MCLA without a field goal in the opening quarter as they sprinted out to a 22-1 lead.  MCLA was 0-13 from the floor in the opening quarter.

Williams continued the run in the second quarter and eventually led 27-1 before MCLA converted a FG attempt on Hannah Mazzeo's layup with 6:57 remaining.  Williams would eventually lead 39-11 at halftime.

MCLA played better in the second half, however they never threatened the Ephs.

Williams placed five players in double figures led by Brooke Krivickas' team best 14 point night.  Maggie Meehan ended with 12 while Arianna Gerig, Kate Keenan, and Ryann Taylor each ended with 11.  The Ephs shot 47% in the win and owned a commanding 65-26 rebounding advantage.

MCLA was paced by Shannon Carney's 15 point effort.  Mazzeo ended with 14 points.  MCLA shot just 26% in the loss.

The Trailblazers have their home opener on Tuesday night when they face Keene State at 6pm.
