Trailblazer women drop road tilt at Worcester State
Worcester, MA-- The host Worcester State women's basketball team placed three players in double figures as they cruised past the MCLA Trailblazers 74-41 in MASCAC action from Brissette Court. Worcester State evens their overall record to 7-7 and are now 2-1 in the MASCAC. MCLA is 0-14 and 0-4 in the conference.
The Lancers opened up a 21-14 lead after one quarter and eventually led 42-27 at halftime. They would break the game open by outscoring MCLA 16-9 in the third quarter to quell any thoughts of a Trailblazer comeback.
Abby St. Martin led the Lancers with a team best 14 points. She added 6 rebounds and 2 assists in the win. Elizabeth Gallella chipped in with 13 points and 5 caroms while Gigi LeMay ended with 10 points. Worcester shot a solid 51% and owned a commanding 41-13 edge off the glass in the win.
Brooke Digennaro was the lone Trailblazer in double figures. She led all scorers with 23 points on 10-19 shooting.
MCLA is back in action on Monday night when they host Fitchburg State at 5:30pm. The game is a makeup from earlier in January. The matchup marks the beginning of a three game homestand for MCLA.
