Women's Basketball downed by Bears

North Adams, MA—The visiting Bridgewater State women's basketball team started the game on an 18-0 run and never looked back as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 105-42 in MASCAC action.  With the win the Bears improve to 14-7 overall but more importantly are 6-2 in the conference.  MCLA falls to 1-18 on the season and 1-7 in conference play.

To say the Bears started fast would be an understatement.  Caroline Tripp began the scoring on the opening possession with a bucket and then back to back triples from Sydney Bradbury made it 8-0.  Destiny Fitzgerald would score six of the next eight points and just four minutes into the game, the Bears led 18-0.

MCLA finally got on the board with an Olivia Pressley free throw, however the Bears would continue the surge and lead 34-8 after one quarter of play.  The hosts played better in the second quarter but the Bears still held a sizable 52-23 lead at halftime.  They were not threatened in the second half.

Fitzgerald ended with a game best 26 points and 13 rebounds.  She went 12-18 from the floor in just 14 minutes of playing time.  Olivia Dziadyk added 11 points while Eryn Rice did as well.  Bradbury ended with 10 points for the Bears.

BSU shot a sizzling 57% from the floor and caused 23 Trailblazer turnovers.

MCLA was paced by Brooke Digennaro's team best 17 points.  Shannon Carney added 13.  MCLA shot just 28% in defeat.

MCLA is back in action on Wednesday evening when they host Framingham State in the Amsler Campus Center.
