Women’s Basketball Fall Just Short to Mt. Holyoke 54-53

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Four Trailblazers finished with double digits points, but the MCLA Women's Basketball team was unable to get a shot off in the final seconds with a chance to win at Mt. Holyoke College. Kristie Zator led a balanced MCLA attack with 16 points, in a 54-53 loss to the Lyons.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game was competitive throughout, with neither team pulling ahead of the other by more than nine points. The game featured six ties and three lead changes, with the largest MCLA advantage coming with 5:03 left in the first half.
  • The Lyons made the most of a 22-3 advantage in scoring off the bench, led by a game-high 17 points from Taryn White, who also added eight rebounds.
  • The Trailblazers had a season-high four players finish the game with double-digit points, paced by 16 points from Kristie Zator, including a 4-6 effort from deep. Hailey Peabody and Zaylee Ramos followed up with 11 points each, while first-year Eva Eberwein had a career-high 10 points.
  • Peabody also set the standard for the Trailblazers on the boards, collecting eight rebounds, trailing only Mt. Holyoke's Emma Goff who had an even dozen. Ramos also chipped in six rebounds.
  • Ramos shared the game-high assists honors with Goff as both players recorded five assists.
  • The Lyons' Libby Harris scored 16 points on a 5-12 shooting effort that included a 4-9 showing from beyond the three-point arc. She also added four assists and a pair of rebounds.
  • MCLA's defense did force the hosts into 21 turnovers and made Mt. Holyoke pay for it as the Trailblazers had a 20-10 advantage in points off of turnovers.
