NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team opened their MASCAC slate this evening with a 73-62 victory over Fitchburg State University at the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. Hailey Peabody led the way with 30 points, while Kristie Zator recorded her second double-double in as many games.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • MCLA entered the second quarter trailing 13-12 and saw the deficit grow to as much as four points with 6:01 remaining after a three-pointer from Fitchburg State's Aliza Som. A layup by Hailey Peabody on a feed from Zaylee Ramos started the Trailblazers on a 17-2 run over the final 5:25 to take a 34-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • An even third quarter left the Falcons still looking at a double-digit deficit going into the final frame when both teams found their shooting touch. The teams combined for 51 points in the fourth quarter. Peabody scored nine of her 30 points for the Trailblazers in the fourth, while the Falcons got eight points from Som and Kathryn Hart.
  • Peabody led all scorers with her career-high 30-point performance on a 13-18 shooting from the field.
  • Kristie Zator recorded her second-straight double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Ramos completed the MCLA trio of double-digit scorers, finishing with 16 points.
  • Maddie Teta made her home debut count with six assists and six steals.
  • The Falcons were led by 19 points from Rylie Harlow and 11 from Som.
