Salem State Cruises to Win over Women’s Basketball in MASCAC Action.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team returned to the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium for their final game before classes resume on Wednesday. Zaylee Ramos and Kristie Zator each finished with 15 points for the Trailblazers, while Jarielis Perez paced a trio of Vikings who finished in double-digits.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The teams combined for 32 points in the opening frame, led by six points apiece for the Trailblazers' Zaylee Ramos and the Vikings' Amayah McConney. The edge went to the visitors, who led after the first quarter 19-13.
  • The teams found scoring to be a bit more difficult in the second quarter, as the teams combined for barely half of their first-period output, totaling only 17 points between the teams. Ramos added another five points to lead MCLA while Salem State spread the scoring between four players and took the lead into the halftime locker room at 29-20.
  • The Vikings began to wear down the hosts in the third quarter and doubled that nine-point lead to 18 points after three quarters. Salem State's Jarielis Perez scored five of her game-high 16 points in the third period, almost matching the Trailblazers' six-point third-quarter output.
  • Kristie Zator began to heat up in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 15 points in the final frame, but found her production being matched by Perez and Abuk Teng for Salem State.
  • Three Vikings finished the game with double-digit point totals. Teng finished with 13, and Amayah McConney dropped 11 to go with Perez's 16 off the bench.
  • For MCLA, Zator finished with 15 points and a game-high 18 rebounds for her fourth double-double in her last five games. Zaylee Ramos also finished with a double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 boards.
