FITCHBURG, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team continued their run conference play this evening when they traveled to Fitchburg State for a MASCAC matchup at the FSU Recreation Center. A pair of Trailblazers finished with double-doubles, but a trio of Falcons finished with double-digit points, and the host came away with a 62 to 39 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After nip and tuck first quarter, MCLA was undone by a rough second quarter. Fitchburg made half their second-quarter shots, including two of three from beyond the arc, to build up a 34-18 lead going into the intermission. The Falcons' Rylie Harlow scored seven of her team-high 14 points in that hot second quarter.
  • The Trailblazers mounted a third-quarter comeback, cutting the deficit in half with a jump shot from Eva Eberwein with 45 seconds remaining in the quarter.
  • The nine points would be as close as the visitors could get. Fitchburg scored the final three points of the third quarter and then grew their lead in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with a 21-7 run from Eberwein's basket until the end of the game.
  • Sophomore guard Zaylee Ramos lifted the Trailblazers with game-highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was Ramos' second double-double of the season, as she also completed the feat against Salem State two weeks ago.
  • After scoring a career-high 30 points against Fitchburg earlier this season, Hailey Peabody finished this game with her third double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down ten rebounds. Her previous double-doubles had been against Elms College and Lesley University.
  • For Worcester State, a trio of Falcons finished with double-digit points, led by a team-high 14 from Harlow and 11 points and 10 points by Aliza Som and Morgan Genness, respectively. Stephanie Hart shared game-high rebound honors with Ramos; both finished with 11 boards.
