Soccer drops conference opener at home to Worcester State 2-0

North Adams, MA-- Visiting Worcester State's Ali Maldonado scored a goal and added an assist in leading the Lancers past the Trailblazers 2-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  WSU evens their overall mark at 3-3 but is now 1-0 in the MASCAC.  MCLA is 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Worcester State controlled play throughout and scored both goals in the opening sixteen minutes.  Maldonado started the scoring as she knocked home her second goal of the season off a Kristen Beidelman feed in the eighth minute of play to make it 1-0.  In the 16th minute, Ella Tatarczuk would convert off a Maldonado feed to increase the margin to 2-0.

MCLA's Jill Currier started in goal and made ten saves in the opening half of play to keep the hosts alive.

In the second half, Worcester couldn't increase the margin, however they would outshoot MCLA 16-1.

For the contest, Worcester held a decisive 36-3 mark in shots.  Worcester's Ashley Spellman earned the win in goal stopping the only shot she saw.

MCLA is back in action on Wednesday night when they host Albany College of Pharmacy at 6pm.
