Women’s Soccer falls 5-1 to Dean in Season Opener

FRANKLIN, Mass.- Cidnee Frymire's goal in the 42nd minute wouldn't be enough as Jazzy Sztyler-Magee's hat-trick led Dean College to a 5-1 season opening decision over the MCLA Women's Soccer team this afternoon at Grant Field.

The hosts jumped out early as Bettencourt Lea's corner found Kacie Consolini who headed the ball past MCLA keeper Eva Eberwein to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the contest.

Dean's Jazzy Sztyler-Magee would make it 2-0 in the 41st minute but less than a minute and a half later, Cidnee Frymire's seemingly harmless attempt from distance trickled past the Dean keeper to put MCLA on the board, cutting the deficit to 2-1 going into halftime.

Unfortunately, or the Trailblazers Sztyler-Magee would score twice more early in the second half for the hat-trick before Lea's penalty kick in the 68th minute gave Dean the 5-1 win.

The Bulldogs outshot MCLA 22-5 with Eberwein making 10 saves.

Both teams are back in action on Sunday as Dean hosts Rhode Island College at 1pm and MCLA travels to Anna Maria for a 12pm kickoff.
