Garber posts double double, but Trailblazer Volleyball falls 3-2 to New England College

North Adams, MA-- The MCLA Volleyball team came into tonight riding a modest two game winning streak hoping to extend to three, but the visiting New England College Pilgrims had other ideas.  The Pilgrims rallied from a fifth set deficit to claw their way back and eventually pull out a hard fought 3-2 over the Trailblazers tonight in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.

The Pilgrims are now 8-4 overall while the Trailblazers dip to 4-3.

The two teams split the first two sets and then NEC took the third easily outdistancing MCLA 25-16.  The hosts didn't fold however and took the fourth set 25-23 to send it to the decisive fifth.

In the fifth, after a Kelly Moczulski kill, MCLA led 11-7.  From there though, NEC asserted themselves and took over.  They would outscore MCLA 8-2 over the closing volley's to take home the win.  Keying the spurt was Amber Thi who would collect a pair of key kills in the spurt.  NEC would close out the win on a service error by the Trailblazers.

New England College showed its depth by placing three players in double figure kills.  Thi ended with 11 as did teammates Livia Elfering and Tatiana Sampson.  Kenzie Barron set them up all night to the tune of 40 assists.  Libero Jaycie Kodama would collect a team best 26 digs in the win.  The Pilgrims ended with 11 aces on the night.

For MCLA, they were led by Chloie Garber's match best 19 kills.  She would finish off the double double with 12 digs.  Moczulski and Reagan Scattergood each finished with 12 kills.  Natasha Stewart finished up with 40 assists.  On defense, Ellie Walter-Goodspeed finished with a team best 22 digs.  

The Trailblazers will host a tri-match on Saturday when they host Mass. Maritime and Trinity (CT).  The first match is at noon.
