Volleyball collects thrilling 3-2 win over Sage

North Adams, MA-- The MCLA Volleyball team made some highlight plays in the decisive fifth set to hold off the visiting Russell Sage College Gators 3-2 this evening in non league action.  The Trailblazers earned their second win of the season against the Gators as they evened their mark at 8-8 on the season.  Sage falls to 5-17 overall.

The teams traded sets all the way to the fifth.  Set scores to set up the fifth set went 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 19-25 before MCLA took the final one 15-13.

Chloie Garber made a handful of key plays in the fifth set after MCLA trailed 12-10.  Garber would spark a three point run highlighted by a kill and a block to make the score 13-12 in favor of the hosts.  After an error tied things up, Garber once again hammered one home to give MCLA a 14-13 edge.  The final point came on a block off the hands of Julia Graham and Kelsey LaFreniere to give MCLA the win.

Garber ended with 17 kills on 56 attacks.  She added 11 digs in the win.  Reagan Scattergood had a productive night to the tune of 11 kills and 25 digs.  Natasha Stewart continued her solid play with 46 assists and 14 digs on the night.

Ellie Walter-Goodspeed ended with 22 digs on the defensive side of the net.  

For Sage, Emma Parkington was outstanding.  The senior ended with a match best 23 kills on 74 attacks.  She added 12 digs and 2.5 blocks.  Celia Gagnon chipped in with 11 kills while Statia Walker turned in 44 assists.

On defense for Sage, Elaina Moisidis ended with a match best 26 digs.  Four other Gators were in double figures.

MCLA will be back on Saturday at home hosting Salem State.  Prior to first serve, MCLA will honor their four seniors.
