Volleyball falls 3-1 to Owls in MASCAC tilt

Westfield, MA- The Westfield State Volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening from the Woodward Center in a key MASCAC tilt.  The Owls improve to 6-17 overall, but more importantly are 5-1 in the conference.  MCLA evens their mark at 9-9 and is also .500 in the conference at 3-3.

The Owls took the opening set 25-18 before MCLA stormed back to win the second at 25-14 to even the match at 1-1.  Westfield would take the next two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-20 to close out the Trailblazers and earn the key victory.

Westfield remains just one game back of front runner Worcester State in the league.  MCLA is now tied with Bridgewater State at 3-3.  The Trailblazers and Bears will meet in the season finale on October 30th to determine playoff seeding.

Westfield's Shawna Crowley, Ashley Crowley, and Bridgette McAndrews all finished with a match best 14 kills.  Julia Dangel-Garcia set them all night to the tune of 47 assists.  

Jess Haradon led the Owls with 22 digs and 3 aces.  

MCLA was paced by Reagan Scattergood's team best 12 kills.  She would add 11 digs to complete the double double.  Chloie Garber ended with 11 kills.  Natasha Stewart dished out 33 assists and added 13 more digs to her stat line.

Kelly Moczulski finished with a solid all around night ending with 9 kills, 19 digs, and 2 aces.

MCLA is back in action on Sunday when they head to Castleton for a tri-match with UMass-Dartmouth and the Spartans.
