Volleyball swept in Tri-Match by UMass Dartmouth and Castleton

Castleton, VT- The MCLA Volleyball team took to the road this afternoon for a Tri-Match with host Castleton University and UMass-Dartmouth.  The Trailblazers dropped the opener to UMD 3-1 before falling to host Castleton by the same 3-1 score.

The Trailblazers are now 9-11 overall on the season heading into the final week of the regular season.

UMass-Dartmouth (3) – MCLA (1)

In the opener, UMD took the match by set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 24-26, and 25-11.

The Trailblazer offense was led by Chloie Garber's team best 12 kills.  Kelly Moczulski added 11 while Reagan Scattergood collected 8 kills.  Natasha Stewart finished with 27 assists and 17 digs.

Ellie Walter-Goodspeed ended with a team best 23 digs for MCLA.  Moczulski and Garber each finished in double figures as well.

For UMD, they were led by Marley Alexander's 11 kills.  Devion Laing added 9 while Zoe Dizenzo dished out 30 assists in the win.

Castleton (3) – MCLA (1)

In the nightcap, MCLA took the opening set 25-17 but the host Spartans rallied to take the next three to secure the win.  Castleton took the sets by scores of 25-18, 28-26, and 25-18.

Garber and Scattergood once again paced the offense with 13 and 12 kills apiece.  Stewart dished out 29 assists and added 23 digs to her stat line.

Castleton placed three players in double figure kills in the win.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday night when they head to Cobleskill for a non-league matchup.
