Three Volleyball players named to All MASCAC team

2021 All MASCAC Volleyball Team

North Adams, MA-- Three Trailblazer Volleyball players were selected to the All MASCAC team as the conference released their awards this afternoon.  MCLA's Reagan Scattergood (Rhinebeck, NY) was a first team selection while teammates Natasha Stewart (North Andover, MA) and Chloie Garber (Eagle River, Alaska) were second team choices.

Garber was also named the conference's rookie of the year.  Other major award winners included Worcester State's Natalie Gillis as the Offensive Player of the Year, Westfield State's Jess Haradon as the Defensive Player of the Year, and Worcester State head coach Bernie Chase as the Coach of the Year.

The honors for Scattergood and Stewart are their second in an MCLA uniform.  Both were second team selections back in 2019.

Scattergood had a great season for MCLA.  She played in all 24 matches and ended with 277 kills, 298 digs, and 50 aces.  She was third in the conference in kills per set and fifth overall in total kills.  Scattergood was second in the MASCAC in aces with her 50.  Scattergood collected a season best 18 kills in a win over Salem and notched double figure kills in 17 of the 24 contests.

Stewart led the second team contingent after her best year in an MCLA uniform as well.  Stewart led the conference in assists with 863 and during the course of the season joined the grand club on two occasions, one for assists and the other for digs.  Stewart is the only person to be in the MCLA "Grand Club" twice.  She ended the season with 300 digs.

Garber quickly became an offensive force for the Trailblazers.  She led the conference in kills with 339, collected 255 digs, and served up 34 aces during her first season as a Trailblazer.  Garber reached double digit kills on all but one occasion for MCLA this season.  She set her career high mark of 21 in a loss at Skidmore.

Joining Scattergood, Gillis and Haradon on the All-Conference First Team are Hailey Sanders and Brandee Thomas of Framingham State, Ashley Crowley and Shawna Crowley of Westfield State and Angela Colonis of Worcester State.

Earning a spot on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference with Garber and Stewart are Sydney Rice of Bridgewater State, Morgan Failla and Valerie Sullivan of Framingham State, Bridgette McAndrews of Westfield State and Leele Tyler of Worcester State.
