Bio

Dot Houston is the Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and Compliance. As the compliance coordinator, she is responsible for monitoring NCAA rules and for regulation enforcement in the department. She works with student athletes, athletic administrators, coaching staff, as well as academic, admissions and financial aid areas within the College.

Houston has recently undertaken the responsibility to oversee the department’s TSP (Trailblazer Success Program) for Academics. Dot coordinates semester workshops and individual and group sessions for students who are in need of additional academic support. She works closely with the staff in the Center for Student Success and Engagement, the College’s hub for academic resources and guidance. Dot works with the Faculty Athletic Representative serving as a mediator for all athletic teams.

Dot serves as the Senior Woman's Administrator at MCLA, a role she has held since 2000. The senior woman’s administrator (SWA) provides leadership to men’s and women’s sports and issues. Dot also currently works with the coaching staff and on campus and outside groups wishing to use the campus athletic facilities including any area at the Joseph Zavattaro Athletic Complex and the James T. Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium.

Dot has over ten years of college coaching experience along with over twenty-five years of high school and youth coaching expertise. She has taught within the department of Education, teaching the Coaching Principles course, coordinating the Coaching Minor and placing students into the local high school or college practicum sites.

Houston is a member of the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Committee which develops policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships. She also is a board member of the USTA Western Mass. Tennis Committee. She volunteers for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (MIAA) Girls and Women in Sports Committee and is a grant reader for the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Dot has enjoyed serving on past NCAA Regional Rules working groups, the ECAC softball New England Regional Tournament Committee and served as a facilitator during one of the NCAA Career in Sports Forums. She has also coordinated adult sanctioned tennis tournaments for the Williamstown Tennis Club and served on the board of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center and the NECBL North Adams Steeple Cats baseball organization.

Dot received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Springfield College and Master of Exercise and Sport Science in Motor Learning and Control from The Pennsylvania State University. Dot lives with her husband Greg and has two grown children Kim and Sean.
