Baseball shutout at Union (NY)

Amsterdam, NY- Union (NY) pounded out 18 hits and the Dutchmen pitching staff combined on a shutout as they rolled to a 14-0 decision over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shuttleworth Park.  Union improves to 14-4 on the season while the Trailblazers fall to 8-8-1 overall.

Union wasted little time in this one scoring six times in the first inning off of Trailblazer starter Hayden Bird, who was making his first career start on the hill.  Jake Vesling drilled a two run home run for an early 2-0 advantage.  Then, Andy Labeck's two run double made it 4-0 and when Harrison Glatt scored Labeck and Sean Cullen it was 6-0.

Union added a single run in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth to take full control.  The would add three runs in the seventh to cruise to the win.

Mike Papaleo had three hits to lead Union.  Jack Koch and Colin Kelly each had two hits to lead the offense.  Union outhit MCLA 18-2 in the contest.

Adam Hall (1-0) earned the win going the first five frames allowing just two hits.  The bullpen was outstanding as they didn't allow a hit over the final four innings of work.

Bird suffered the loss for MCLA.  Christian Seariac and Brett LaBonte collected the lone hits for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they head to Mass. Maritime for a MASCAC twinbill.
