Baseball drops 19-8 decision to RPI

Troy, NY—The MCLA Baseball team fell 19-8 to RPI today nonconference action at Robinson Field. The Engineers improve to 8-4-1 while the Trailblazers fall to 6-5.

After holding MCLA scoreless in the opening frame, a one out triple by RPI's Ayush Krishnappa in the bottom half would be part of a six-run inning by the Engineers.

In the top of the 3rd Austin Rachiele's (2-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBIs, HR) two-run homer and a Randy Adams (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) RBI double that drove in Clarence Givhans (1-for-4, 2 R) would cut the deficit in half to make it 6-3. But a leadoff solo shot by Jack Moncur in the bottom half would spark another six-run inning for RPI stretching their lead to 12-3.

The lead would swell to 19-3 before MCLA scratched out four runs in the top of the 9th to make it 19-8.

Five Engineers had multi-hit games with eleven different players having at least one hit.

Julian Fong-McAdams (W, 1-1) would be credited with the win allowing 3 earned runs on six hits while striking out five batters. Eight different Trailblazers would pitch one inning each but Bryan Rosario (L, 3-1) would endure the loss.

Both teams will be back in action in doubleheaders this Saturday as RPI opens Liberty League play hosting Skidmore and MCLA travels to Springfield College for a nonconference twin bill with the first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
