MCLA's Greenberg tabs first team honor, while Harris named to second team

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Jon Greenberg (Antwerp, Belguim) was selected first team All MASCAC, while his teammate Chris Harris (Dorchester, MA) was chosen as a second team selection as announced by the league on Wednesday.  Greenberg was a second team selection a year ago.

Greenberg and Harris were the top scoring duo in the MASCAC during the regular season combining for over 33 points per game.  They were also a top duo off the glass, finishing an impressive 1-2 on the offensive boards. 

This season, Greenberg established himself as one of the premier players in the MASCAC.  He led MCLA in scoring (17.7), rebounding (12.3), Field Goal %, and blocks (1.04).  He tallied 19 double doubles on the season, while his 17.7 points per game was good enough for third in the MASCAC.  His rebounding totals led the conference, while also placing him into the top five nationally. 

Greenberg was twice recognized as the MASCAC player of the week during his junior season.  He also set single game career highs in scoring (33 points) and rebounds (19) this past season.  He has posted double figures in scoring in all but two contests.

Harris supplied the Trailblazers with slashing complement to Greenberg.  Coming into this season off a strong rookie campaign, Harris established himself as a primary scoring threat early on.  His 15.6 points per game average placed him fifth in the league.  He also finished in the identical spot in rebounding, at just over seven per game (7.3).  This season, Harris turned in career highs in points (27) and rebounds (13).  He was named to the MASCAC honor roll numerous times throughout the season.

Harris would tally double figures in 20 games this season.

When asked what the duo meant to his program, MCLA head coach Jamie Morrison stated "Both Jon and Chris are well deserving of this honor. Jon has worked very hard to establish himself as one of the premier players in the league and dare I say region. Chris has had a fanstastic year, not only does he put up numbers on offense, but is our best defender as well, I feel he is the best two way player in the league. These two guys are working hard to make us a factor in the MASCAC again."

MCLA wrapped up its season with a defeat in the quarterfinal round of the MASCAC postseason tournament.  They finished the season 9-16.  Both will return in 2010-2011.
