MCLA falls to Fitchburg 72-60

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Basketball team never led in falling to Fitchburg State 72-60 in their home finale.  With the loss, MCLA falls to 9-14, 3-8 in the league, while the Falcons improve to 8-16 overall, 3-8 in the league.  Junior Forward Jon Greenberg (Antwerp, Belgium), the reigning MASCAC player of the week, led MCLA with 22 points and a game high 16 rebounds.

MCLA never led from the onset falling behind early in the first half.  Fitchburg would go on top by 13 points at 30-17 on the heels of a 13-4 spurt.  Senior forward Tim Graham set the tone early contributing six points in the run.  MCLA would cut into the lead, trimming the margin to seven at the break (32-25) after scoring the final five points of the period.

The Trailblazers were cold in the first half shooting a paltry 30% from the floor.

The second half saw the teams swap small runs at each other until MCLA would finally cut the lead to a point at 56-55 on a Chris Harris (Dorchester, MA) layin with 5:05 to play.  Fitchburg would have the answer though as they would turn to Senior Colin London.  London would tally nine points down the stretch, including a key putback to give the Falcons the edge for good. 

MCLA came up empty in the last two minutes from long range in an attempt to trim the deficit.

Aside from Greenberg, Harris would finish with 18 points.  Junior point guard Benny Cuprill would add a team high 5 assists.  MCLA would finish the night shooting just 31.5% compared to 42.6% for Fitchburg.

For the Falcons, London finished with a game high 25 points, 17 in the second half.  Three other Fitchburg players tallied double figures as Graham would finish with 14, along with Stephen Verdi (14) and Blake Sheldon (11).  Rolffi Canela had a nice floor game finishing with 6 assists and 3 steals.
