Nine straight wins for MCLA Men

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Basketball team received a season high 18 points from Benny Cuprill en route to their ninth straight win, 78-67 over Fitchburg State.  The Trailblazers are now 13-3 overall and 4-0 in the MASCAC.  They remain atop the conference standings with the victory.  Fitchburg falls to 3-12 overall, 0-4 in the league.

MCLA took a commanding 43-29 lead into the locker room.  Cuprill got off to a hot start, connecting for 12 points in the opening half, including 3-3 from behind the arc.  MCLA used a 16-0 run to turn a one point deficit (15-14) into a 30-15 lead.  The first half lead would grow to as many as 17 before settling at the 14 point halftime lead. 

MCLA quickly pushed the lead to 27 early in the second half as Fitchburg would get no closer than the final margin. 

Cuprill's season high came on 5-7 shooting from three point land while he also added a solid floor game with 5 rebounds and 5 assists.  Brendan Kordana chipped in with 13 points connecting on three from beyond the arc.  MCLA made a season high 11 three point field goals in the game.  Jon Greenberg only managed two field goals, but ended with a double double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Falcons, Elliot Knower led them with 13 points, while Stephen Verdi added 12.  Robert Hopkins also had double figures with 11.

MCLA will next face Bridgewater on the road on Wednesday night.
