MCLA falls to Salem in battle of MASCAC's top two teams 80-77

Salem, MA- The MCLA Traiblazers dropped an 80-77 decision at the hands of MASCAC front runner Salem State University.  The game matched the top two teams in the MASCAC standings.  The Trailblazers are now 15-6 overall, 6-3 in the league.  Salem has now won 10 straight games as they improved to 14-6 on the season, 8-1 in the league.  The Vikings avenged their only conference loss to the Trailblazers a month ago.

MCLA's Jamal Brown hit a three pointer with 11 seconds remaining to pull the Trailblazers within one at 78-77, however Salem's Brennan Bennett would hit two clutch free throws to extend to a three point lead with just eight seconds left.  Trailblazer Tyrell Mosley launched a long three pointer at the buzzer but he could not find the bottom of the net.

MCLA led throughout much of the second half, leading by as many as seven on a pair of occasions.

MCLA placed four players in double figures with Jon Greenberg leading the way with 18 points and 12 boards.  Brown finished with 15 points, while Brendan Kordana and Ramon Viches each added 12.

Salem was led by Brian Clark who finished with 18 points.  Justin Nieves and Tavone Wynder each added 15.

The Trailblazers will travel to Framingham State on Saturday.
