Trailblazers Past and Present Take Final Step

The MCLA Men's Basketball program saw thirteen current and former players walk in the 2011 Graduation Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

Current players Jon Greenberg, Adam Tarsa, Marvin Thompson and Benny Cuprill all earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration; and Kris McLaughlin and Chris Cassels earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology.

Karl Sims (Psychology) and Mike Perreault (Business Administration) finished their eligibility in 2010 and also walked in the ceremony.

Other players collecting Business degrees were Russ Beauchamp (2006-07), Alex Lopes (2006-09) and Mike Meaney (2007-09).

Pat O'Connell (2007-09) earned his degree in Sociology and Dave Wilfore (2008-09) earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science.

Two other players from the 2011 team Brendan Kordana and James Rivers will complete their degrees in the Fall of 2011 and walk in the 2012 Commencement.

Coach Morrison said "I'm proud of all those guys and what they accomplished. I think they would all say they had their ups and downs, but that's part of the process. Whether they played four seasons or one, really doesn't matter to me. They are all quality men and I know will go on to do very well for themselves and their families. It's a really good day to what's been a really good year for the MCLA basketball program."

The Trailblazers were 17-10 this season, earning their first postseason bid since the 1989-90 season. The season ended with a 76-66 loss in the semi-finals of the New England ECAC tournament to Brandeis.

The Trailblazers also placed six players on the Winter MASCAC All-Academic team, more than any other men's basketball team in the MASCAC.
