Greenberg reaches Milestone in win over Hartwick

North Adams, MA- MCLA senior forward Jon Greenberg notched his 1,000th point of his career in the Trailblazers 73-65 win over Hartwick.  He would go on to score a game high 14 points as MCLA evened its record at 1-1, while Hartwick falls to 2-2.

Greenberg entered the game needing just five points to reach the milestone.  It did not take him long to assert himself into the offensive flow as he scored two buckets in the opening two minutes before being fouled at the 16:27 mark.  He would swish the free throw to reach the mark.  After making the back end as well, MCLA led 12-6.

Hartwick would score the next five to close within one before MCLA would go on an 8-0 run to push the lead to 20-11 with 11:00 minutes in the half.  Hartwick would trim the advantage to six at the break at 34-28.

Hartwick began the second half torrid from downtown as they slowly chipped away at the lead until taking a one point advantage on a Jared Suderely trey making it 44-43 in favor of the Hawks.  After trading baskets and Hartwick holding a 48-47 edge, the Trailblazers would score the next 11 points culminating with a Greenberg dunk to build a commanding 58-48 lead with 6:47 to play.   

Hartwick would claw their way back once again and eventually cut the lead to two on a pair of free throws by Mike Henson at the 1:29 mark.  MCLA would close the game on a 9-3 run, including going 9 for 10 from the line for the final margin.

Greenberg would also collect seven boards before fouling out.  Jamal Brown joined him in double figures with 10 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.  MCLA placed 12 players in the scoring column.

Hartwick was led by Suderely's 14 points, while Chris Ryder collected 13 points and 7 boards.  Mike Geisser (11) and Anthony Keane (10) were the other Hawks in double figures.

MCLA held a commanding 40-28 edge off the glass.

MCLA returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Williams College.
