MCLA toppled by NYU to close out semester play

New York, NY- NYU's Carl Yaffe finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds in leading the host Bobcats past MCLA 78-55 in Men's College Basketball Tuesday night.  NYU stays unbeaten at 6-0 while the Trailblazers break for exams at 2-8 overall.

MCLA fell behind 7-0 out of the gates and found themselves down 22-12 with 10:30 remaining in the first half.  The Trailblazers would use a 7-0 run over the next 1:24 to cut the deficit to 22-19 with 9:06 to play until halftime.  Ramon Viches keyed the run with five straight points while Bilal Shabazz' layup finished the run.

NYU would go on a strong spurt before intermission to take command as they outscored MCLA 17-4 to close out the half holding a 39-23 lead.  Yaffe scored 17 of his points in the opening twenty minutes.

Any chance of a comeback was derailed as NYU scored the first six points of the half to push to a 22 point lead.  The Trailblazers would never threaten the rest of the way.

No Trailblazer reached double figures as Ramon Viches and Tyriq Rochester each had nine points.

Yaffe collected his 27 points on 9-11 shooting.   Andy Stein joined Yaffe in double figures finishing with 14 points.  Kyle Stockmal would chip in with 10.

The Trailblazers are off until December 31st when they travel to the nation's capital for the Catholic University New Year's classic.  They will face the hosts on New Years Eve.
