Trailblazers beaten by Wesleyan in consolation round

Landover, MD- Michael Young scored a team high 15 points, but it wasn't enough as the Trailblazers dropped the consolation game of the Residence Inn Greenbelt Classic held at Catholic University to Wesleyan (CT) by a score of 75-68.  The loss was the fifth straight for MCLA, who drops to 2-10 overall.  Wesleyan moved to 10-2 on the season.

Shasha Brown scored a game high 20 points for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan took control late in the first half, pushing out to a ten point margin at 36-26 with under a minute to play until halftime.  Trailblazer Tyriq Rochester's bucket would cut the deficit to eight at the break at 36-28.

Wesleyan went up by 12 points at 44-32 early in the second half before MCLA made a charge to get back into the contest.  The Trailblazers used a 14-2 spurt to pull even at 46.  Young had five points in the run, however MCLA could never grab the lead.

Trailblazer senior Chris Harris added 14 points and 6 rebounds for MCLA while Rochester added 11 points.  Vernon Cross chipped in with 10 points.

For Wesleyan, Mike Callaghan joined Brown in double figures with 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Jason Mendell added 14 points in the win.

MCLA was hurt from the free throw line, shooting only 53% (9-17) opposed to 66% (19-29) for Wesleyan.

The Trailblazers will look to snap their skid when they travel to Fisher College on Wednesday night.
