MCLA Men sluggish at Fitchburg, drop fifth straight 67-48

Fitchburg, MA- The Fitchburg State Falcons placed four players in double figures en route to a convincing 67-48 win over the visiting MCLA Trailblazers.  The 48 points were a season low for MCLA.  The loss was MCLA's fifth straight dropping the Trailblazers to 7-17 overall, 4-7 in the MASCAC.  The Falcons improve to 12-11 overall, 3-8 in conference play.

Fitchburg made quick work of the Trailblazers after MCLA held a slim 8-7 first half lead.  The Falcons went on a 10-4 run to push out to a 17-12 lead midway through the half.  They continued the aggressive play and on the heels of a 16-6 run to close the half, led comfortably 42-26 at the half.

MCLA never really challenged in the second period as Fitchburg quickly ballooned the lead to twenty plus points.  MCLA got no closer than the final margin over the final ten minutes of play.

No Trailblazer reached double figures.  MCLA was paced by Michael Young's 9 points.  The Trailblazers shot just 31% on the night and committed 21 turnovers.

The Falcons were paced by Tom Henneberry's 15 points off the bench, including four three pointers.  Zach Valliere added 14 points, while Mike Ingram-Rubin chipped in with 13 points.  Brandon Selby had 10 points.  Jeremy Kimber finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

MCLA has qualified for the MASCAC tournament and will wrap up their season on Saturday when they travel to Bridgewater State.
