Trailblazer Men fall at home to Williams 106-71

North Adams, MA- The Williams College Men's basketball team placed all five starters in double figures as the Ephs raced to a 106-71 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening.  The Ephs won their fifth straight game after a season opening loss and improve to 5-1 overall.  The Trailblazers drop to 2-4 overall.

Daniel Wohl paced Williams with 23 points.  Duncan Robinson finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Taylor Epley had 16.  Hayden Rooke-Ley and Ryan Kilcullen each ended the night with 13 points.

MCLA was paced by John Jones' game high 25 points.  Jeremic Bennett finished with 11 off the bench, while Ramon Viches ended with 10.

After MCLA scored the first point on a John Jones free throw, Williams ran off ten straight points in the midst of a 17-2 run to grab an early 14 point lead.  MCLA would trim the deficit to eight on a pair of occasions, the last of which was at 26-18 following a three pointer from Paul Maurice.  The Ephs responded though using a powerful run late in the half to build a healthy halftime lead.

With the score at 33-22 in favor of Williams, the Ephs would outscore MCLA 19-8 the rest of the way to take a 52-30 lead at halftime.  The spurt was capped by Taylor Epley's three at the buzzer.  Williams shot a solid 56% in the opening half, however they were aided by a perfect 16-16 showing at the charity stripe.  MCLA shot 39%, but just 54% at the line.

Any thoughts of a Trailblazer comeback were diminished quickly as Williams scored the first eight points to double up MCLA at 60-30.  The Trailblazers never threatened the Ephs as they would get no closer than 28 the rest of the night.

Williams shot 57% on the night compared to just 36% for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action this weekend when they host the Tri State shootout on Friday and Saturday.  The Trailblazers will face RPI in the opening game Friday.
