Jones earns second team All MASCAC Honors

2013-14 All MASCAC Men's Basketball Team

North Adams, MA-  MCLA senior forward John Jones was named to the All MASCAC Men's basketball second team following his strong season.  The honor is the second straight for Jones as he was a first team selection as a junior.  His Trailblazers will battle top seeded Salem State tomorrow night at 7pm in the MASCAC semifinal round.

The Worcester, MA native led the Trailblazers in scoring at 16.5 ppg.  His 8.2 rebounds per game also are tops on the squad.  Jones finished the season with six double doubles.  He notched a season high 25 points on two separate occasions, the first of which was against Williams College, while the second was in a road win at Fitchburg State.

Jones was fifth in the conference in scoring, while fourth in both rebounding and FG percentage.  He led the conference in steals at 2.5 per game proving that he can be a force on the defensive end as well.

The MASCAC first team was comprised of player of the year Dane Jobst of Worcester State.  Jobst was joined on the first team by Grant Cooper (Westfield State), Mike Ingram-Rubin (Fitchburg State), Michael Lofton (Bridgewater State), and Andrew White (Salem State). 

The second team was led by Jones.  Also making the squad were Kyle Gibson (Bridgewater State), Bryan Ortiz (Salem State), Brendan Rios (Worcester State), and Brendan Monteiro (Bridgewater State).  Worcester State's Paul Brooks was the Rookie of the Year, while Salem State's Chris Harvey was selected by his peers as the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year.
