Hannah Wornum, Maurice lead MCLA victory over Vermont Tech 77-65

Troy, NY- The MCLA Trailblazers Men's basketball received 15 points, 27 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots from Dakari Hannah Wornum as they snapped a six game skid with a 77-65 win over Vermont Tech in the consolation game of the Tri State Shootout hosted by RPI.  With the win, MCLA is now 3-7 while VT falls to 3-9 overall.

Hannah Wornum, who is in the top five nationally in rebounding, recorded his career best 27 boards by attacking the rim.  The 6'7 center grabbed 11 offensive rebounds in helping MCLA to a 19-3 edge in second chance points.  He shot just 5-14 from the floor, but was 5-7 from the line.

Trailblazer senior Paul Maurice scored 19 of his team high 22 points in the second half.  He canned six three pointers for MCLA.  Khalil Paul added 14 points, while Merle Darling came off the bench to score a career high 13 points.

Vermont Tech was up early, however MCLA quickly took advantage with Hannah Wornum working the glass.  The Trailblazers would eventually go on to lead 37-31 at halftime, but quickly extended the second half lead into double figures thanks to Maurice.

Maurice hit five of his triples after halftime and the Trailblazers spent the half comfortably ahead by double figures.

Vermont Tech was led by BJ Conaway's game high 31 points, however he was just 9-24 from the floor.  Logan White added 15 points in the loss.  Vermont shot just 28% in the contest and committed 12 turnovers.

The Trailblazers are off for semester break and won't return to action until December 31st when they host Sage at 1pm in the Amsler Campus Center.
