Wiggins names MASCAC Rookie of the Week for second time

MASCAC Weekly Release (1/25)

North Adams, MA- For the second time this season, MCLA Men's Basketball freshman Joe Wiggins was tabbed as the MASCAC rookie of the week as announced by the league offices this morning.  Wiggins was joined in the weekly release by Marcus Faison of Salem State who was the conferences player of the week.

Wiggins was selected as the rookie of the week in late November and regained his scoring touch this past week.  The athletic first year player averaged 15 points per game, 3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals for the Trailblazers.  His best performance of the week came in a loss to Fitchburg last Wednesday.  The shifty forward scored 23 points, pulled down 3 rebounds, and collected 4 steals against the Falcons.  He followed up that performance by scoring 7 points in a loss at Fisher on Saturday.  Wiggins is fourth on the team in scoring at just under 9 ppg.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Bridgewater State to face the Bears.  MCLA will be looking to snap a six game slide and earn their first conference victory.
