Wiggins nets 24, but Trailblazers drop high scoring affair to Pine Manor 107-102

North Adams, MA- Pine Manor's Taverick Roberson scored 36 points including 26 in the second half in leading the Gators past the MCLA Men's Basketball team 107-102 in a high scoring affair from the Amsler Campus Center Gym.  With the win, the Gators end their regular season at 15-10 while MCLA drops to 6-18.

Roberson was tough to handle all night, but was especially good in the second half.  He went 14-22 from the floor including 3-8 from three point range.  He added 5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals while battling foul trouble for most of the night.

With 4:00 minutes remaining the score was tied at 90-90.  From that point forward, there were eight lead changes and one tie.  Pine Manor took the lead when Johnathan Higgenboth drilled his only three pointer of the game with 1:50 remaining to make it 102-100.  Careem Kirksey answered with a pair of free throws to tie the game for the last time, and then it was all Roberson.

He drove the lane on the next possession and banked it home making it 104-102 with 1:12 left. MCLA came up empty on two straight possessions and then were forced to foul.  PMC's Ellis Reid make two key freebies with 20 ticks left pushing the lead to four points.  A missed three pointer by Khalil Paul all but ended MCLA's chances and Roberson hit one of two at the stripe to seal it.

Aside from Roberson's big night, Curtis Hyman ended with a double double effort of 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Rasheed Bell ended with 19 points and 4 blocked shots.  PMC shot a solid 52% from the field as they overcame a tough night beyond the arc.  They went 5-23 from deep after an 0-16 start.  The Gators ended with 19 turnovers.

For MCLA, Joe Wiggins led the Trailblazers with 24 points on 11-21 shooting.  He added 6 boards and 3 steals.  Paul Maurice added 19 points including draining 5 three pointers.  Adam Conquest had his second consecutive double double notching 12 points and 15 rebounds.  He added 3 blocked shots.  Ki-Shawn Monroe had a solid floor game amassing 9 points and 9 assists.

The Trailblazers shot 40% from the floor and committed 18 turnovers.

MCLA will celebrate senior day on Saturday when they host Bridgewater State in the regular season finale at 3pm.
