Gittens earns first MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor
North Adams, MA- MCLA freshman guard Quentin Gittens (Pittsfield, MA) has been named the MASCAC rookie of the week after his debut weekend in a Trailblazers uniform. Salem State's Sean Bryan was tabbed as the conference's player of the week.
Gittens averaged 8.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 opening weekend for MCLA. He began his career by scoring 10 points with 9 rebounds and two steals in a win over NVU-Johnson. Gittens would follow that up with 7 points and 6 rebounds in a setback with NVU-Lyndon. The first year players shot a solid 54% (7-13) from the floor.
MCLA competed in the Northern Vermont Classic over the weekend.
Gittens, who played high school ball locally at Taconic High School, started both games for MCLA. He will be in action again next weekend as MCLA competes in the Western New England Invitational. The Trailblazers take on the hosts in the opening round Friday night.
