Gittens named to MASCAC All-Conference First Team

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Senior guard Quentin Gittens (Pittsfield, MA / Taconic High School) has been named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team.

Worcester State's Aaron Nkrumah was named the Player of the Year, while Westfield State's Brendon Hamilton was named Defensive Player of the Year. The Rookie of the Year honor went to Westfield State's Juju Omot. Worcester State's Tyler Hundley was named the BSN Coach of the Year.

Gittens was honored with his first MASCAC All-Conference First Team appointment after being named to the second team following the 2021-22 season. He started in 25 of the Trailblazer's 26 games. The senior from Pittsfield, MA, led the MASCAC with 20.2 points per game and trailed only Nkrumah in total points (529 vs. 504) despite playing two fewer games. His 14 double-doubles were second in the conference, and he was also second in assists and assists per game with 108 and 4.3, respectively. Gittens was first in the conference in both free throws made and free throw attempts and was 8th and 12th in the nation in those categories.

Gittens set a new career high with 36 points in the Trailblazers win at Framingham on February 10th, with this game being one of five times he crossed the 30-point mark in a game. He finished 21 of his 25 games with at least 10 points and had 20 or more points in 14. He also had at least ten rebounds in 14 games this season.

Joining Gittens on the first team were Bridgewater State's Precious Okoh, Westfield State's Hamilton and Omot, and Worcester State's Nkrumah.

The second team consisted of Bridgewater State's Emerson Halbleib and Dante Kikuba, Salem State's Jaden Castillo and Michael Makiej, and Worcester State's Ryan Rubenskas.
